About the Role

At Miare, we are looking for a Head of Engineering to lead engineering execution across our product, backend, platform, infrastructure, mobile, data, and operational systems. Your main focus will be engineering execution, delivery reliability, platform scalability, engineering productivity, infrastructure health, and product-engineering alignment. You will work closely with product, business, operations, and engineering leads to turn company priorities into clear technical plans, realistic commitments, sustainable execution, and reliable delivery.

This role is best suited for a hands-on engineering leader with a strong backend background who can operate in ambiguity, challenge technical decisions, manage trade-offs, build healthy engineering systems, and keep teams moving in an operationally complex environment.

Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership:

Lead engineering execution across backend, platform, infrastructure, mobile, data, and product-facing technical initiatives.
Support engineering leads and senior engineers with prioritization, technical review, execution discipline, feedback, hiring, and engineering growth.
Build a healthy engineering organization with strong ownership, sustainable execution habits, clear responsibilities, and reduced dependency on heroic execution patterns.
Improve engineering health, including delivery pace, development velocity, release flow, tooling, technical quality, team productivity, and operational stability.
Build a pragmatic agentic AI engineering culture that improves delivery pace and engineering outcomes through AI agents and modern AI-enabled workflows for code review, debugging, test generation, documentation, refactoring, workflow automation, and technical analysis.

Technical Leadership:

Own engineering prioritization and technical execution within agreed company priorities and capacity constraints.
Challenge architecture, API design, data models, database performance, system reliability, estimates, dependencies, and delivery plans.
Protect long-term platform scalability, infrastructure reliability, technical sustainability, and engineering quality alongside short-term delivery needs.
Own infrastructure, production reliability, external technical providers, integrations, incidents, escalation paths, and vendor follow-up.
Reduce technical and organizational dependency concentration by improving documentation, technical clarity, ownership distribution, and engineering standards.

Product & Delivery Collaboration:

Work closely with product, business, operations, and engineering leads to align priorities, clarify trade-offs, and convert business needs into executable technical plans.
Help establish clear ownership and decision-making boundaries across product, operations, and engineering.
Improve the product-engineering operating flow by clarifying handoffs, blockers, delivery expectations, escalation paths, and execution follow-through.
Ensure major technical initiatives are properly prioritized, phased, owned, tracked, and delivered.

Requirements

5+ years of experience in software engineering, including 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering teams.
Proven ability to lead engineering delivery and technical prioritization in fast-paced product or operational environments.
Strong experience operating in ambiguity while balancing short-term execution pressure with long-term technical sustainability.
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical field.
Hands-on professional experience with Python/Django, Golang, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes in production environments.
Familiarity with end-to-end engineering infrastructure leadership, from identifying technical needs and shaping the initial idea to planning, execution, rollout, monitoring, and operational ownership. The candidate does not need to be an expert in every infrastructure layer, but must understand the full lifecycle well enough to guide decisions, challenge plans, and lead execution.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical fields.
