About the Role

As a Technical Lead at SnappPay, you will be the technical owner of your domain, driving architectural decisions and engineering excellence across high-scale distributed systems. This role is dedicated to the technical leadership track, focusing on designing resilient solutions, improving system reliability, and establishing engineering best practices rather than people management. You will collaborate closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performing products that serve millions of users.

Responsibilities

Design and evolve scalable, secure, and highly available system architectures for large-scale distributed applications.
Define engineering standards, best practices, and software design principles to ensure high-quality code and sustainable development.
Drive technical decision-making by evaluating architectural trade-offs and identifying technical risks before they impact delivery.
Lead technical execution across projects, ensuring solutions are reliable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives.
Monitor and manage technical debt while continuously improving system performance, scalability, and reliability.
Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, SREs, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact solutions.
Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, design reviews, and knowledge sharing to strengthen engineering capabilities.

Requirements

Proven experience as a Senior, Staff, Principal Engineer, or Technical Lead in building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
Strong expertise in software architecture, system design, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
Deep understanding of scalability, reliability, performance optimization, and cloud-native application design.
Experience with modern software development practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality standards.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to evaluate technical trade-offs and make sound architectural decisions.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Passion for mentoring engineers, fostering technical excellence, and driving continuous improvement across engineering teams.
Strong sense of ownership with a proactive approach to delivering reliable, production-ready systems.
Hands-on experience with backend technologies such as Java or Go (Golang), along with microservices architecture, relational databases, messaging systems, and containerized environments, is preferred.
