About the job

We are seeking 2 remote Senior Full-Stack Java Developers with strong experience in Java, Spring Boot, React, Next.js, and Azure/AWS for a 12-month EMR rebuild project. You will join an established 8-person Scrum team, contributing to the entire software development lifecycle and directly supporting technology that impacts patients with rare and chronic illnesses.

What you'll achieve

Join a team building technology that directly impacts patients with rare and chronic illnesses who receive complex, life-changing therapies. You'll be developing systems for a mission-driven specialty pharmacy that treats every patient like family, ensuring individualized care for people facing healthcare's most challenging conditions.

Design, develop, and maintain robust applications using React and Next.js for front-end development.
Build, optimize, and maintain Java/Spring Boot backend services and REST APIs.
Develop scalable, secure, and high-performance microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
Work within Azure DevOps and Azure Cloud Services, with exposure to AWS cloud services as needed.
Design and implement database solutions using relational and/or NoSQL technologies.
Collaborate with an 8-person Scrum team to deliver solutions in 3-week sprints.
Build products from the ground up, not just feature work or bug fixes.
Participate actively in the Agile/Scrum framework, including sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Ensure security, scalability, reliability, and performance best practices are applied throughout the software development lifecycle.
Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to code reviews and technical discussions.
Troubleshoot complex application and production issues and drive solutions through to completion.
Contribute to CI/CD automation and modern DevOps practices.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Senior-level experience with Java and Spring Boot for backend development.
Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
Strong experience with React and Next.js for UI development.
Experience with Spring Framework, Spring Data, Spring Security, and related Java technologies.
Experience working with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar.
Expertise with Azure DevOps and experience with Azure Cloud Services.
Experience with cloud-native application development and deployment.
Proven ability to build products from the ground up, not just maintain existing features.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with sprint-based delivery.
Excellent problem-solving, debugging, analytical, and communication skills.
Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, scalability, and secure coding practices.

Extra credit if you have

Familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards, such as HL7 or FHIR.
Experience with AWS in addition to Azure.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Cypress, or Playwright.
Experience with Kafka or other event-driven/messaging platforms.
Experience working with sensitive patient or healthcare data.
