Web Designer — Project-Based | Hybrid

Wekta Web is a small, growing web design team focused on building websites for Canadian businesses.

We’re looking for a Web Designer to work with us on a project-based basis. This isn’t a role where you’ll simply receive a task, finish it, and hand it back. You’ll be working closely with our team throughout the project — discussing ideas, solving problems, making decisions, and making sure the website is delivered properly and on time.

THE ROLE

As our Web Designer, you’ll be responsible for designing and developing websites based on each client's requirements. Projects move quickly, and deadlines matter. We work with real client timelines, so being able to organize your work, communicate early when something comes up, and deliver on time is an important part of the job.

You’ll also work alongside an intern assigned to the project. Some tasks will be delegated to the intern, and you’ll be expected to communicate with them, provide direction when needed, and review their work where necessary. You won’t be expected to do everything yourself, but you will be responsible for making sure the work coming together meets the project's requirements and standards.

Communication.
We work as a team, and we need people who communicate clearly and consistently. If you’re stuck, if a deadline is at risk, if you need clarification, or if you have a better idea, we expect you to say so rather than let an issue sit until the last minute.

Reliability.
Our projects have deadlines because our clients have deadlines. We need someone who takes commitments seriously and can manage their part of a project without constant follow-up.

Attention to detail.
A website can technically be finished and still not be good enough. We care about the details — layout, responsiveness, consistency, functionality, and how the final product actually feels.

Teamwork.
You’ll be working with other people, including an intern. Being able to give and receive feedback, delegate tasks, and work through problems together is part of the role.

REQUIREMENTS

Strong experience in web design and website development
A portfolio or examples of websites you have worked on
Strong understanding of responsive web design
Ability to work independently while staying connected with the team
Strong communication and time-management skills
Ability to work with tight project deadlines
Comfortable working alongside and coordinating with an intern
Fluent English, both written and spoken

Our websites are built for Canadian clients, so you need to be comfortable communicating and working in English.

WORKING WITH WEKTA WEB

This is a project-based, hybrid position. Your workload will depend on the projects you take on, and we'll discuss the scope, responsibilities, and deadlines before each project begins.

We’re not looking for someone who simply checks off tasks. We’re looking for a web designer who can take ownership of their work, communicate with the team, and contribute to getting a project from an idea to a finished website.
