This is a hands-on, operational role that involves designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-grade database systems supporting our mission-critical services.

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on experience managing high-availability database clusters in production environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in MySQL (replication, group replication, ProxySQL, performance tuning). This role involves ensuring database reliability, scalability, and performance, as well as designing and maintaining robust backup and monitoring solutions.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain MySQL clusters, including replication, group replication, failover, and ProxySQL configuration.
- Analyze, tune, and optimize complex SQL queries, indexes, and database schema for performance and efficiency.
- Design, implement, and validate backup and restore procedures for large-scale production databases.
- Regularly test and verify backups to ensure data integrity and recovery readiness.
- Implement and maintain database monitoring and alerting systems to ensure uptime and proactive issue detection.
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams to improve database automation, deployment, and CI/CD integration.
- Troubleshoot performance issues, replication lag, and cluster synchronization problems.
- Participate in on-call rotations for database-related incidents and provide guidance on best practices.
Requirements
- 3-4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in production environments.
- Deep understanding of MySQL internals, replication, Group Replication, and ProxySQL.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, query optimization, execution plans, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with database backup, restore, and recovery at scale.
- Practical experience implementing database monitoring, alerting, and health-check mechanisms.
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and experience managing Postgres clusters.
- Solid understanding of database security, user management, and capacity planning.
- Proficient in Linux-based systems and command-line database administration.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, and Git for database management and automation.
- Familiarity with YAML-based configuration management.
- Experience with PostgreSQL Percona Cluster, etcd, or ClickHouse environments or containerized databases (Kubernetes operators).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.) for automation and maintenance tasks.
- Exposure to monitoring stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Percona Monitoring and Management (PMM).
