We are a fast-growing startup/scale-up seeking an HR Lead with 4–5 years of HR experience working with North American companies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing remote teams, driving performance management processes, and implementing best practices in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Recruitment & Onboarding Manage the recruitment process by identifying candidates, performing reference checks, screening, and issuing employment contracts. Oversee new hire onboarding, including preparing documentation via DocuSign (or similar platforms) and coordinating remote onboarding sessions.
HR Administration & Compliance Maintain digital and electronic employee records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and internal policies. Schedule meetings, interviews, and HR events; maintain agendas and documentation. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests.
Performance Management Develop and support performance management processes, including goal-setting, conducting reviews, and creating improvement plans for team members. Provide guidance to leadership on performance-related issues and employee development strategies.
Remote Team Support Ensure HR processes and policies are adapted for a remote workforce, including engagement initiatives, compliance with North American labor regulations, and cultural alignment. Identify and implement best practices to support a geographically distributed team, fostering collaboration and high morale.
Payroll & Timekeeping Investigate and resolve timekeeping anomalies through platforms like TrackTik. Work closely with finance/payroll teams to address questions, discrepancies, and process improvements.
HR Reporting & Projects Produce and submit regular reports on HR metrics (e.g., turnover, hiring pipeline, engagement levels). Keep up-to-date with the latest HR trends and best practices, proposing initiatives to enhance the HR function. Take on ad hoc projects and initiatives to improve the performance or efficiency of the HR department. Participate in company-wide engagement initiatives and events.
Requirements & Nice-to-Haves
4–5 years of relevant HR experience, ideally within a startup/scale-up environment serving North American companies.
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (CHRP/CHRL certifications are a plus).
Proven experience managing HR matters for remote/distributed teams.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills; able to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Strong knowledge of performance management processes and tools.
Familiarity with HR software (e.g., ATS, HRIS, payroll systems) and comfort using digital tools like DocuSign or TrackTik.
Up-to-date with current HR trends and best practices, especially those relevant to remote workforces and North American labor laws.
