About the Role
We are looking for a Senior PHP / WordPress Software Engineer to build and maintain modern WordPress applications using contemporary development practices, engineering standards, and deployment workflows.
This role is focused on software engineering rather than traditional website customization. You will work on custom themes, plugins, integrations, and platform-level solutions while following modern PHP architecture and development practices.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress applications, themes, and plugins
Build scalable and maintainable PHP systems using modern architectural patterns
Integrate external APIs and third-party services
Improve performance, security, reliability, and developer experience
Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planning
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues

Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional PHP development experience
3+ years of custom WordPress development experience
Strong understanding of WordPress internals, hooks, filters, actions, WP_Query, REST API, and plugin architecture
Strong object-oriented PHP skills and knowledge of SOLID principles
Experience with Composer and dependency management
Experience building applications using modern PHP frameworks or framework-inspired architectures
Experience with Laravel or equivalent modern PHP ecosystems
Experience with Git-based collaborative development workflows
Experience with modern frontend tooling such as Vite, Webpack, npm, or similar
Experience designing and consuming REST APIs
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
Experience working on medium-to-large codebases with multiple contributors
Strong debugging, performance optimization, and problem-solving skills
Strong knowledge of MySQL and database design

Preferred Qualifications

Experience building large-scale or high-traffic WordPress applications
Experience with containerized development environments
Experience with cloud platforms and modern hosting infrastructure
Experience with automated testing
Experience contributing to open-source projects
Experience with headless WordPress architectures
