Here at Shooka we expect the Product Manager (PM) to oversee and overview the specialization, goals, structure, and expectations of the software product which include the planning & monitoring required for producing the ideal software. Her/His primary goal is to ensure that the software works up to its strategic goals and that the cross-functional teams are working well.
PM must play the following roles at the same time:
Ideation – Product Manager needs to have a well-developed & creative approach that helps her/him generate, develop, and curate new ideas. She/He should determine the ideas that should be worked on, promoted, or pushed, to help Shooka strategize better. That’s why She/He also must take in feedback and requests regarding the “product strategy” and “product development process”.
Strategy – She/He also must work closely with the management on the product strategy by bringing the product vision to light. Our goal is to bring the business value of the software product based on a well-designed product roadmap that takes all the strategic goals into account.
Releases – She/He must keep a hold on the timeline for implementation and the delivery schedules.
Features – PM must compare all possible features of the software and prioritize and rank them with regard to our strategic goals. Based on customers’ feedback, product requirements, and stakeholder preferences, PM must define the best features for the software.
Duties and Tasks
- Oversees and manages the software development lifecycle.
- Works with the market research and management teams (the discovery phase)
- Collaborates with the management to develop and update the product vision
- Analyzes the competitive landscape to see what competitors are doing in the market
- Figures out the strengths and weaknesses of the competitors and uses them to make a great product
- Analyzes trend reports, industry content, market statistics, sales data, user stories, mockups, and metrics to come up with a working strategy
- Manages the development process and the team members to ensure a quick and efficient product launch
- Prepares progress updates marketing and sales teams
- Develops a complete product requirements document and some templates for reference.
- Works on the prioritization of new features based on usability, functionality, and user experience.
- Helps figure out a proper pricing model based on what other tech companies and startups are charging for similar services
- Maintains a complete backlog of all the activities, processes, and workflows of all the relevant teams, stakeholders, and any external influencers and consultants.
Skills and Abilities
- Proven work experience as a product manager, software developer, or project manager
- A deep understanding of the product vision, product launch, and other concepts
- Extensive knowledge of various product functions, the software development process, and the all-things product management
- Excellent communication skills for effective stakeholder communication; That includes working with cross-functional teams and managing all of them simultaneously
- Great interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, and research skills
- Able to develop status reports for internal/external stakeholders
