The Business Plan and Technical Writer will develop a strong business case, business plans, and technical narratives for the purposes of applying for government funding programs, traditional business financing, attracting investors and other application.
The ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively orally and in written form is critical in this role.

You will, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on projects across various technology domains (i.e., manufacturing, IT, blockchain, Fintech, and other) and write technical project narratives
You will, identify and clarify opportunities, gather and format documentation, write drafts, manage edits, develop business case templates and customized strategic pitch decks
You will, be responsible for interviewing subject matter experts, fact-checking information to get an in-depth understanding of how to write about a product, service and/or technology
You will, conduct research, utilizing a variety of sources including market reports, client data and interviews with subject matter experts to develop a coherent narrative for funding proposals
You will, collaborate with stakeholders to compile financial reports and grant budgets
You will, gather supporting documentation based on funding requirements, draft funding proposals and apply for financial grants allocated by government departments
You will, translate scientific ideas, and/or research concepts into simple easy to understand language adapting your writing style to the intended audience and project requirements
You will write business proposals and funding applications in support of business expansion, research & development, capital investment, training and hiring initiatives
Qualifications and Skills:
University degree in relevant area (i.e., science, engineering, business); Masters/PhD an asset
Ideally you will possess 2-3 years of experience in proposal or technical writing
You are able to adapt your writing style to different audiences including government departments, financial institutions and subject matter experts
Understanding of accounting and finance practices; ability to interpret an income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
You demonstrate strong judgement and discretion in dealing with confidential client and corporate information
Able to work in a deadline driven environment, prioritize work and manage time efficiently
Extremely competent in MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
You are detail oriented and posses with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience preparing business and marketing plans an asset
