Construction Project Manager Job Description:
About the role:
Construction project managers are responsible for ensuring the timely and costly completion of construction projects by overseeing all phases of the project. This entails working with various stakeholders to schedule and plan work, coordinate equipment and materials, operate within budget and monitor overall progress.
Responsibilities:
Plans all phases of the construction lifecycle from initiation to completion
Collaborate with engineers, architects, etc. to determine the specifications of the
project
Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
Evaluate the progress of a project to detect limitations or faults in order to seek solutions to a more efficient process
Monitor industry trends to identify changes in project strategies, tools, terminology and to adjust accordingly
Use specialized tools and techniques to delegate and ensure even distribution of tasks to project team members.
Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
Writes and submits testing and inspection logs, quality assurance reports, and punch lists.
Ensures that all local, state, and national building codes and regulations and safety precautions are followed.
Uses scheduling software to update schedules, track progress, and document project progression.
Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies
Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities
Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics, etc. and guide them when needed
Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports
Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
Select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships
Qualifications:
5-7 years of experience in project management within the construction
In-depth understanding of construction procedures and material and project management principles
Familiarity with quality and safety standards
Outstanding knowledge of building products, construction details, and relevant rules,
Additional knowledge of C# or Python programming is highly beneficial
Familiarity with construction/ project management software
Select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships
Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
A team player with leadership abilities
BSc/BA in engineering, building science, or relevant field
