At Productic Studio, we’re looking for a Senior Character Designer who can turn ideas and personality into distinctive, expressive characters. This is not a graphic design role! We’re looking for someone with strong illustration and visual development skills who can build memorable characters with clear shape language, strong silhouettes, and consistent design across poses, angles, and contexts.

The Work You’ll Shape

Develop original characters from rough ideation, thumbnails, and silhouette exploration through refined, production-ready designs.
Translate personality and narrative into clear decisions across shape language, proportion, gesture, expression, costume, props, and visual details.
Produce character development assets including turnarounds, model sheets, expression sheets, pose studies, lineups, and design variations.
Explore multiple visual directions quickly and refine concepts through structured iteration.
Maintain strong character consistency across different angles, poses, expressions, outfits, and applications.

What You Bring

3+ years of professional experience in Character Design, Illustration, Visual Development.
Advanced drawing fundamentals across anatomy, gesture, construction, proportion, volume, perspective, silhouette, posing, and facial expression.
Strong command of shape language, visual hierarchy, costume, props, and proportion to communicate personality through design.
Experience producing production-ready character packages, including model sheets, turnarounds, expression sheets, pose sheets, character lineups, and design callouts.
Ability to maintain character consistency while preserving the core personality and visual language of the design.
A strong exploration process using thumbnails, silhouette studies, gesture sketches, variations, and iterative refinement.
Advanced proficiency with professional 2D illustration tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Procreate, or Clip Studio Paint, with clean and organized source files suitable for production.

What Gives You an Edge

Experience developing recurring characters, mascots, or character systems used across products, brands, animation, or larger visual worlds.
Experience using 3D blockouts or AI-assisted workflows to accelerate exploration while maintaining strong artistic direction and consistency.

Application Requirement

To be considered for this role, include a portfolio focused specifically on character design. We want to see original characters, exploration sketches, iterations, expressions, poses, turnarounds, and enough process to understand how you develop a character from idea to final design. General graphic design portfolios without strong character design work will not be considered. Applications without a relevant character design portfolio will not move forward.
