The Role:
We are looking for a Lead Frontend Developer to drive the design, development, and optimisation of our trading platform’s user interface. You will be responsible for architecting high-performance, highly scalable, and visually stunning applications using Svelte, Astro, and Angular. This role is critical in ensuring a seamless, high-speed trading experience with a strong focus on performance, accessibility, and maintainability.

As part of our engineering team, you will work on frontend architecture, optimise rendering pipelines, ensure best-in-class SEO, and lead the adoption of modern UI/UX practices. You will collaborate closely with backend engineers, designers, and product teams to deliver intuitive and highly responsive trading experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Architect and develop high-performance, scalable frontend applications using Svelte, Astro, and Angular.
  • Optimise performance for fast initial load times, smooth interactions, and minimal re-renders.
  • Ensure SEO, accessibility, and progressive enhancement best practices are integrated into the frontend stack.
  • Implement server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG) strategies for Astro to enhance performance and scalability.
  • Develop real-time, low-latency trading interfaces that handle high volumes of live data efficiently.
  • Design and maintain a scalable component library to ensure UI consistency and reusability.
  • Improve and maintain state management solutions for seamless data synchronisation.
  • Lead code quality, best practices, and performance optimisations through rigorous testing, profiling, and refactoring.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to design efficient APIs and ensure smooth data exchange.
  • Drive frontend security, preventing XSS, CSRF, and other vulnerabilities.
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to enhance reliability and development efficiency.
  • Mentor and lead a team of frontend engineers, conducting code reviews and fostering a culture of excellence.
 

Experience & Technical Expertise:

  •  5+ years of experience in frontend development, with a strong focus on performance and scalability.
  • Expert-level proficiency in Svelte, Astro, and Angular, with deep knowledge of their ecosystems.
  • Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, and modern frontend build tools (Vite, Webpack, Rollup, etc.).
  • Expertise in performance optimisation, including lazy loading, bundle splitting, and render efficiency.
  • Experience with real-time data handling, WebSockets, and state management (e.g., Svelte stores, NgRx, or Zustand).
  • Strong understanding of SSR, SSG, and hydration techniques for maximising frontend performance.
  •  Experience in designing responsive, mobile-first, and accessible UIs following WCAG guidelines.
  •  Familiarity with Web Components, Shadow DOM, and micro frontend architectures.
  • Knowledge of progressive web apps (PWAs) and service worker-based caching strategies.
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks like Jest, Cypress, Playwright, or Vitest.
  • Bonus: Experience with GraphQL, WebAssembly (WASM), or Rust/WASM bindings for frontend performance.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  •  Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership over the frontend experience.
  • Ability to mentor, guide, and inspire junior and mid-level frontend developers.
  •  Attention to detail, ensuring pixel-perfect implementations that align with design specifications.
  • Expert-level proficiency in English, both written and verbal, for effective global team communication.
