About the Position

We are looking for a Senior Speech & Audio AI Engineer to join our AI team at FAPNA (Fanavari Pardazesh Novin Etelaat Khwarazmi).

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in Speech Processing, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Deep Learning, and fine-tuning speech models.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and optimizing speech and audio AI systems, from data preparation and model fine-tuning to evaluation, optimization, and production deployment.

This position is intended for someone who goes beyond theoretical knowledge and has practical experience building real-world speech systems, particularly in challenging environments involving noise, poor-quality recordings, multiple speakers, various accents, and domain-specific audio data.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems for converting speech to text.
Perform fine-tuning and customization of Speech-to-Text models for specific languages, domains, accents, datasets, and business requirements.
Develop and customize ASR pipelines using Kaldi, Whisper.
Analyze ASR errors and improve model performance using metrics such as WER and CER.
Work with real-world audio data, including noisy environments, background sounds, multiple speakers, different recording qualities, and non-ideal conditions.
Develop and optimize speech-related components such as:
- Voice Activity Detection (VAD)
- Speaker Identification
- Speaker Verification
- Speaker Diarization
- Speech Enhancement

Required Skills

Strong proficiency in Python.
Strong hands-on experience with fine-tuning speech and Speech-to-Text models.
Practical experience with Whisper, including fine-tuning or model customization.
Practical experience with Kaldi and ASR pipeline development.
Practical experience working with noisy audio and real-world speech data
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Ability to properly document development, experimentation, and evaluation processes.
