An employer branding specialist needs to conduct research and analysis to understand the current and desired state of the organization's employer brand. This may include surveys, interviews, focus groups, benchmarking, and data analytics. The research and analysis help identify the organization's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats as an employer, as well as the needs, preferences, and perceptions of the target audiences.

Research and analytical skills are needed to collect and interpret relevant employer brand data and insights, while project management skills are necessary for planning and executing employer brand initiatives on time and on budget. Collaboration and relationship-building skills are also important for working with internal and external stakeholders, as well as creativity and innovation skills for generating fresh ideas. Common qualifications include a bachelor's degree or higher in marketing, communication, human resources, or a related field, a certification or training in employer branding, such as the Employer Branding Academy or the Employer Branding College, as well as a portfolio or case studies of successful employer branding projects or campaigns.
