شرح موقعیت شغلی

About us
We're a ~60-person IoT product company building several related sensor product lines. We're launching a new cloud product in the healthcare space, built on top of our existing platform.
About the role
 This isn't greenfield-in-a-vacuum: you'll be the first backend hire for the new product, but it sits on top of the existing sensor platform that other teams in the company have already built and run in production.
You'll work with a PM and coordinate continuously with the tech leads of our other product lines. You'll build the backend team from zero (technical decisions + hiring).
What you'll do


  • Develop deep understanding of the existing company platform (device management, fleet telemetry, OTA, identity) and design the new product to leverage it rather than duplicate it
  • Design and implement the backend on AWS with strong security and compliance standards
  • Build the backend team from scratch (you're the first backend engineer)
  • Own end-to-end responsibility for deployment, monitoring, security, scalability
  • Coordinate continuously with tech leads of the other product lines on shared standards (sensor data format, device management, observability, identity)
  • Establish engineering practices in a team you build from zero
Must-haves


  • 7+ years of hands-on backend engineering
  • Strong backend engineering fundamentals in Python or Go
  • AWS production experience — fluent with managed services (RDS, ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/Kinesis, S3, IAM), IaC (Terraform or CDK), VPC/networking
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed systems and event-ingestion pipelines on AWS
  • Experience with IoT/device-to-cloud systems OR other high-scale event ingestion architectures
  • Strong production security instincts: authentication, authorization, encryption at rest + in transit, secret management
  • Prior tech lead experience
  • Strong cross-team communication — comfortable working alongside multiple parallel engineering teams
  • Fluent technical English
Nice to have


  • Production experience with HIPAA-compliant systems or other compliance frameworks (BAA scope, audit logging, KMS) — real experience, not a course
  • Hands-on with the AWS HIPAA-eligible services subset (RDS, S3, KMS, CloudTrail, etc.)
  • Real-time alerting in production (PagerDuty, Opsgenie, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with FHIR / HL7 and EHR integrations (on the roadmap)
  • Experience operating a multi-product platform where one team's product layers on shared infrastructure from another team
