About the Role

At Hami System Sharif, we build and operate large-scale national systems in payments, remote identity verification, and capital markets, systems that serve hundreds of thousands of users and demand the highest standards of reliability and security. We are looking for a strong Director of Engineering to lead our engineering organization and turn technical strategy into consistent, high-quality delivery.
In this role, reporting to the CTO, we expect you to own the day-to-day leadership of our engineering teams (backend, frontend, DevOps, and QA), build and scale the team, establish engineering processes and standards, ensure predictable delivery against client commitments, and raise the bar on code quality, reliability, and security across all products.
We are looking for an engineering leader who has built and grown high-performing teams, still understands systems deeply enough to earn engineers' respect, balances speed with quality in a regulated financial environment, and leads through clarity, trust, and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers, tech leads, and engineers across backend, frontend, DevOps, and QA
• Own engineering delivery: planning, estimation, capacity allocation, and predictable execution against product and client commitments
• Partner with the CTO on technology strategy, architecture direction, and major technical decisions, and own their execution
• Define and enforce engineering standards and processes, including code review, testing, CI/CD, release management, and documentation
• Drive reliability, performance, and security across all systems in line with the requirements of supervisory bodies (Central Bank, Shaparak, Securities and Exchange Organization)
• Own the engineering hiring plan together with HR: define roles, interview, and maintain a strong technical hiring bar
• Set goals and OKRs for engineering teams, run performance reviews, and build career paths for engineers
• Work with product management on roadmap feasibility, prioritization, and trade-offs between scope, quality, and time
• Manage technical debt deliberately, balancing new development with refactoring, upgrades, and platform investments
• Establish engineering metrics (delivery predictability, cycle time, incident rate, quality) and report regularly to leadership
• Oversee incident management and postmortems and ensure corrective actions are completed
• Represent engineering with clients and stakeholders in technical reviews, audits, and escalations
• Build an engineering culture of ownership, learning, knowledge sharing, and blameless improvement
• Manage engineering budgets, tooling, and vendor relationships

Requirements

• At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years managing engineering teams or managers
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Proven track record of leading the delivery of complex, large-scale software systems in production
• Strong technical foundation in backend systems, distributed architectures, APIs, databases, and cloud or on-premise infrastructure
• Hands-on experience establishing engineering processes: Agile delivery, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, and release management
• Experience hiring, developing, and retaining engineers and building engineering managers
• Solid understanding of reliability, security, and compliance requirements for financial or mission-critical systems
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across product, business leadership, and clients
• Ability to make sound decisions under uncertainty and balance speed, quality, and risk
• Proficiency in Office and Google Workspace tools
• Working knowledge of English for reading resources and professional communication

Nice to Have

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, identity verification, or capital-market systems
• Familiarity with the technical and security requirements of supervisory bodies such as the Central Bank, Shaparak, and the Securities and Exchange Organization
• Experience with the Java, Python, or .NET ecosystems and with Kubernetes-based infrastructure
• Experience scaling an engineering organization from a small team to multiple teams
• Experience delivering to enterprise and government clients with formal acceptance, audit, and SLA processes
• Experience working in growing organizations or fast-paced environments
