The Role
We are seeking a Senior WordPress Developer to lead the development, customization, and optimization of our WordPress-based products and websites.
In this role, you will own the technical implementation of WordPress projects, work closely with design and product teams to turn Figma designs into high-quality, responsive interfaces, and ensure that our WordPress stack is secure, performant, and maintainable.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, customize, and maintain websites and web applications based on WordPress
- Implement pixel-perfect UI/UX from Figma designs
- Build and extend themes and plugins (including custom plugins where required)
- Diagnose and fix bugs, performance issues, and compatibility problems
- Optimize website speed and performance (front-end and back-end)
- Integrate and work with REST APIs, AJAX, and JSON-based data flows
- Implement and customize WooCommerce and other major WordPress plugins
- Work with Actions and Filters in WordPress/WooCommerce to extend functionality
- Ensure responsive, cross-browser, and accessible front-end implementation
- Create and maintain technical documentation, diagrams, and implementation notes
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams
- Follow Agile practices (Scrum) and contribute to planning, estimation, and delivery
- Support ongoing updates of WordPress core, themes, and plugins with minimal downtime
What We’re Looking For:
WordPress & Web Engineering Expertise
- 3+ years of professional experience working with WordPress
- Strong experience with theme and plugin development and customization
- Deep understanding of:
- WordPress core architecture
- Hooks, Actions and Filters
- Custom post types, taxonomies, and meta fields
- Strong proficiency in:
- PHP
- HTML/CSS
- JavaScript (with jQuery)
- Experience working with major WordPress plugins (e.g. WooCommerce and others)
- Experience with Elementor (or similar visual builders), including custom widgets and templates
APIs, Architecture & Tooling
- Familiarity with WP REST API and custom API integrations
- Experience working with REST APIs, AJAX, and JSON
- Understanding of HTTP, web services, and client–server communication
- Experience using tools like Postman for API testing
- Solid understanding of responsive design principles and mobile-first development
- Basic familiarity with SEO best practices and how they apply in WordPress
- Comfortable with UML or similar diagramming for system and feature design
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
- Familiarity with project and knowledge management tools (e.g. Notion)
Frontend & UI Implementation
- Strong CSS skills; familiarity with frameworks like Bootstrap is a plus
- Ability to translate complex UX/UI requirements into maintainable front-end code
- Attention to detail in layout, typography, spacing, and interaction states
- Focus on performance, accessibility, and usability in UI implementation
