A back-end engineer is integral to the architecture and development of software applications. Their primary responsibilities include designing scalable systems, writing business logic, server scripts, and application programming interfaces (APIs) that are utilized by front-end engineers, mobile developers, and UX designers. They collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and front-end engineers, to achieve common goals and ensure seamless integration across the product.
Responsibilities:
* This is a remote position *
- Architect and design scalable, robust, and maintainable back-end systems.
- Integrate user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server-side logic.
- Develop reusable code and libraries for future use.
- Optimize applications for maximum speed, scalability, and efficiency.
- Implement security and data protection measures.
- Design and implement efficient and scalable data storage solutions.
- Develop and enhance FlashBox features in a secure, well-tested, and high-performance manner.
- Collaborate with Product Management and other stakeholders within Engineering (Front-end, UX, etc.) to maintain high-quality standards in a dynamic, iterative environment.
- Advocate for and implement improvements to product quality, security, and performance.
- Solve complex technical problems and provide innovative solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code adhering to internal standards and best practices for high-scale web environments.
- Conduct code reviews in line with our guidelines and ensure timely responses to community contributions.
- Identify technical debt and propose and implement solutions to enhance team efficiency.
- Represent FlashBox and its values in public communications related to specific projects and community contributions.
- Confidently ship small features and improvements with minimal guidance, while collaborating on larger projects.
Basic Qualifications:
- At least five years of experience in PHP.
- In-depth knowledge of Laravel and Lumen.
- Proficiency in working with MySQL and writing queries.
- Familiarity with MongoDB and Redis.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and best practices.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Proficiency with Linux and the command line.
- Extensive experience with system design and architecture.
- General experience with containerization and Docker.
- Understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and microservices.
- Intermediate proficiency in the English language.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with Node.js.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale, high-performance systems.
