About the role
We’re looking for a Technical Writer to join our growing team. In this role, you will communicate and work closely with our talented product engineers and project managers to create concise and easy-to-understand technical documentation and architectural plans. You will rely on your strong command of the English language and good grasp of technology to prepare technical documents that are accessible to our intended users. Your well-structured delivery of our company’s architectural and project plans will clearly establish how employees are to reach company goals and end objectives, and guide them towards peak performance.
Responsibilities
● Gain familiarity with our products and services and distil key aspects in documents suiting their target audience.
● Document our company’s present and intended future systems and software architecture.
● Create and maintain documents of our company’s coding standards, training manuals, and other technical materials in support of the various internal departments such as Quality Assurance, Business Intelligence, Back-end, Front-end, and Quants, as well as external parties such as developers who use our API.
● Improve our open-source projects and the documents created by our engineering teams to ensure accuracy and clarity.
● Collaborate with project managers to prepare detailed technical guidelines on how to achieve our short-term and long-term goals.
● Document our internal and public-facing APIs.
● Review any gaps in content that could benefit from the use of appropriate graphics to ease knowledge transfer.
● Establish a technical writing style guide consisting of standardised processes and best-practices that can be applied company-wide.
● Ensure that all content produced and published by the company are technically accurate, clear, and concise.

Minimum requirements
● At least 3 years of experience in a similar role
● Solid understanding of software development, preferably of how it is done in First Source through programming languages, platforms, and systems such as Perl, Python, PHP, C/C++, Go, Ruby, Redis, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS
● Good knowledge of relational database design and/or open-source RDBMS systems such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
● Well-versed in Linux and other open-source platforms
● Excellent spoken and written English with outstanding communication skills
