About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Back-End Developer to join our Back-End team, which is responsible for developing advanced applications and interfaces for our clients. As a Senior Back-End Developer, you will be responsible for writing high-quality, production-ready code that energises our websites and applications. You will work with microservices at a global scale, dealing with 24-hour transactions on a robust platform.
Responsibilities
● Develop websites and applications while working with databases, servers, and APIs.
● Optimise web applications and infrastructure for maximum speed and scalability.
● Collaborate with researchers, designers, and front-end developers to develop an effective architecture
to support the deployment of new products and features.
● Develop and maintain world-class web applications.
● Build, maintain, and optimise the technology that energises our servers, applications, and databases.
● Troubleshoot and debug problems in applications during development and deployment.
● Test and fix problems, especially when it involves working with data, and provide feedback for
improvement.
● Keep abreast of the latest tools and technology related to your role.
● Provide technical leadership, leading by example throughout the development process.
● Communicate effectively with other team members to understand the bigger picture of the organisation
and its goals.
Minimum requirements
● At least three years of relevant experience
● Expertise in any programming language, preferably Perl, Python, PHP, C/C++, Go, or Ruby, and a
willingness to become highly proficient with Perl
● Extensive knowledge of information security and data protection
● Expertise in Linux system administration
● Extensive experience with relational database design and/or open-source RDBMS systems such as
MySQL and PostgreSQL
● Familiarity with Perl DBI, Moose, PSGI/Plack, NGINX, JavaScript, Redis, and Git
● Experience working with microservices and scalable systems
● Ability to produce high-quality, self-documenting code by using test-driven development (TDD)
techniques
● Extensive experience in Linux and other open-source platforms
Preferred experience
● Experience with studying user behaviour in a data-driven approach
● Experience with A/B testing
● Understanding of front-end technologies
