About Avicenna:

Avicenna is an innovative end-to-end research platform that enables researchers to use smartphones and wearable devices in their research. We are at the forefront of merging technology with research, and we are looking for like-minded individuals to join our team.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Front-End Developer with strong expertise in JavaScript, React.js, and modern web application architecture to join our international engineering team on a full-time, remote basis. In this role, you will take ownership of our core frontend architecture, building intuitive, data-intensive user interfaces that empower researchers worldwide.

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, and CSS, with deep expertise in React.js
  • Solid experience with modern React practices, including Hooks, React Router, and advanced component patterns
  • Strong understanding of state management with tools such as Zustand, TanStack Query, and the Redux ecosystem (including Redux-Saga)
  • Advanced styling skills with SCSS and modern CSS architecture/patterns
  • Experience working with both modern (Vite, pnpm, Vitest, Playwright, Sentry) and legacy (Material UI, Webpack, Formik/Yup, i18next) frontend stacks
  • Strong testing skills, unit testing (Vitest), and end-to-end testing (Playwright)
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving performance bottlenecks using React DevTools Profiler and similar tools
  • Proficiency with Git and GitLab
  • Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to take ownership of tasks
  • Ability to communicate clearly in written English (if you have read it so far without a dictionary, you are good)
Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with Python or backend development
  • Experience working on complex dashboards or data-heavy applications
  • Experience working in remote teams
  • Strong understanding of best practices in frontend architecture and project structure
  • Experience with AI-powered development tools (Cursor, Claude Code, MCP)

  • Highly organized, responsible, and results-oriented, with strong planning and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate thoughts, plans, and technical concepts clearly in both verbal and written English.
  • Detail-oriented, paying very close attention to requirements and instructions.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
