Mission/ Core purpose of the Job: (Short description)


This role is a technical analyst position in the Change, Release, and Configuration Management Area which is part of the wider Service Management function. The Change and Configuration Analyst assesses changes and releases, identifies potential technical issues that could have impact. They need to prevent the occurrence of any Priority 1 incidents caused by change, and ensure lessons are learnt in the event of any issues to continue improving service. The analyst also needs to maintain the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to provide service information to stakeholders across IT. 

·   Ensure all assets are being accurately recorded and tracked in a centralized Configuration Management Database (CMDB) with accurate Configuration Item (CI) mapping to business services.


·    Develop, build and maintain Configuration Management standards, policies and procedures. Agree the scope of the configuration management processes, function, the items that are to be controlled, and the information that is to be recorded


·     Design and build of operation reports and dashboards for Configuration Management


·    Understand best practices and determine optimized procedures for updating CI data including the use of automated processes, discovery tools/integrations with other data sources, and manual input processes as necessary.


·    Plan and conduct configuration verifications and configuration audits.


Change Management 


·  Support ensuring change is enabled and controlled across all environments and across a multi supplier ecosystem


·  Review the risk & impact analysis in changes to ensure that appropriate actions have been planned to minimize both the risk of failure and the impact on customers during change implementation.


·    Ensure that the timing of implementations does not conflict with other planned changes or event.


·   Enforce change freeze and maintenance windows in line with the demands of the business


·   Attend and input to the Change Advisory Board ensuring stakeholder acceptance of all in-scope change.

  Skills / physical competencies: ITIL V3 or V4 Foundation qualification (certification in Service Transition highly desirable) Demonstrable experience of maintaining the data integrity of the CMDB through effective governance, change control and CI mapping Familiar with MCSE and CCNP concepts also Infrastructure methods Communicate at all levels Demonstrable experience of the Change Management/Enablement lifecycle, from inception to closure and the Change Advisory Board. Proven working knowledge of Asset Management technologies, including discovery tools and CMDB automated tooling Problem solving and root cause identification skills Familiarity with project management approaches, tools and phases of the project lifecycle
