Job Description

About Melli Gold
Melli Gold is a fintech startup operating at the intersection of the gold market and financial technology. We design and develop an intelligent and secure infrastructure for sourcing, trading, and managing gold flows in Iran.

Role overview:
As a Java Tech Lead, you will lead the Java/Backend team and contribute to designing and developing scalable, stable, secure, and reliable services. In this role, in addition to architectural decision-making and solving complex technical challenges, you will oversee development standards and service quality and help team members grow.

This role has a strong focus on Payment and Financial Services; therefore, a solid understanding of financial transactions, Consistency, Reliability, Security, and Scalability is essential.

Responsibilities:

Lead the Java and Backend team and provide solutions for complex technical problems
Design and review the architecture of Backend and Microservice services
Participate in key architectural decisions and technology selection
Define and improve standards for Architecture, Coding, Testing, and Code Review
Perform Code Reviews and ensure code quality, security, and maintainability
Identify and manage Technical Debt
Review service Performance and Scalability and propose improvements
Contribute to designing and implementing High Availability and Fault Tolerant services
Troubleshoot Production issues and participate in Root Cause Analysis
Contribute to designing and developing Payment and Financial Services
Design and implement Idempotency mechanisms and prevent Duplicate Transactions and Double Spending
Design and manage Retry, Timeout, Callback, and Webhook processes
Contribute to designing Reversal, Failed Transaction, and Refund processes
Contribute to designing Ledger, Wallet, and related financial account services
Pay attention to Financial Consistency, Auditability, and Reconciliation processes
Develop Backend services using Java and Spring Boot
Design RESTful APIs and internal services and implement complex Business Logic
Implement Unit Tests and Integration Tests and build testable, maintainable services
Design and implement Event-Driven Services and work with message brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
Design Retry and Dead Letter mechanisms and manage Message Duplication and Ordering
Contribute to designing Distributed Systems considering Eventual Consistency and Failure Handling
Follow Secure Coding principles and design secure APIs
Collaborate with the Security team to identify and fix vulnerabilities and meet security requirements for financial and payment services
Mentor and transfer knowledge to team members and help Senior and Mid-Level Developers grow
Participate in interviewing and hiring Backend engineers
Break down complex problems into executable tasks
Work closely with QA, Security, DevOps, Product, and other technical teams
Participate in Technical Planning, technical estimation, and Sprint Planning
Build a culture of Ownership and technical accountability within the team

Requirements:

Education preferably in Computer Engineering / Software
Relevant experience at Senior level and experience leading Java and Backend teams
Strong proficiency in Java (preferably versions 17 or 21)
Strong knowledge of Java concepts including Collections, Generics, Stream API, Exception Handling, Multithreading, and Concurrency
Good understanding of JVM and Memory Management
Strong proficiency in Spring Boot, Spring Web, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, and Spring Security
Strong proficiency in Spring Transaction Management and Spring Actuator
Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL or similar databases
Advanced SQL skills, Database Design, Query Optimization, and Indexing
Understanding of Isolation Level, Transactions, Deadlocks, and Locking
Solid understanding of Consistency in financial transactions
Experience designing Backend, Microservice, and Distributed systems
Ability to analyze complex problems and provide reliable technical solutions
Technical leadership, mentoring, and knowledge transfer skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business teams
