About the Team
● Paul Graham's essay on Great Hackers sums-up our mentality when it comes to engineering
tools: “what do hackers want? Like all craftsmen, hackers like good tools. In fact, that's an
understatement. Good hackers find it unbearable to use bad tools. They'll simply refuse to
work on projects with the wrong infrastructure.”
● We like open source! GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, RocketChat are just the basic productivity
tools we use.
● We like to move fast, develop prototypes and validate ideas with developers quickly.
● We are disciplined when it comes to testing changes. We occasionally make mistakes, but we
realize the power of saying sorry, and being open about mistakes so we can all learn from
them and avoid them in the future.
● When it comes to information sharing, we are open by default.
Join us and collaborate with talented and passionate colleagues to ship industry changing products.
We strive for diversity in the workplace and encourage those from underrepresented groups in
technology to apply.
About the Role
We are looking for a Tools Engineer to join the DevOps Team at Snapp. This is a unique opportunity
where you’ll be involved in developing, scaling and maintaining internal engineering tools for one of
Iran’s biggest startups. We view other teams at Snapp as customers and we like Jeff Bezos’ mentality
when it comes to building a customer centric team: take every single customer and put them at the
center of their own universe.
Responsibilities
● Develop automation for deploying, scaling and maintaining engineering productivity tools on
top of our cloud (OpenShift Kubernetes Distribution). We like to automate as much as we can.
● Investigate new tools to use during the application development lifecycle.
● Develop monitoring and alerting for our internal tools. Troubleshoot and fix issues across the
stack. This is fun and challenging as we work with a range of open source technologies.
● Contribute to runbooks and take part in the on-call rota as these tools will become
mission-critical.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications
● You should be comfortable reading/writing in English. A desire to learn and become fluent in
English is a plus.
● You must be experienced with Linux and system administration. Experience in
Docker/Kubernetes or deploying GitLab, JIRA, Confluence or RocketChat are a plus.
