About Snapp

Snapp is the pioneer provider of ride-hailing mobile solutions in Iran that connects smartphone owners in need of a ride to Snapp drivers who use their private cars to offer transportation services. About the Team

The Data engineering team is a group of professionals who work on developing and maintaining the data infrastructure of Snapp, the fastest-growing startup and the biggest ride-hailing service in Iran. The data engineering team is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and platforms using cloud-based and on premises technologies and best practices. They also ensure data quality, integrity, and availability throughout the data lifecycle. The data engineering team collaborates with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand their data needs and deliver high-quality data solutions. They break down Data Silos and bring down all the data together in one place and provide services on top of data for internal and external stakeholders.


Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of data engineers and provide technical guidance, mentorship, and feedback.

• Define and execute the data engineering strategy and roadmap, aligning with the business goals and priorities.

• Design, develop, and deploy scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and platforms using cloud-based technologies and best practices.

• Ensure data quality, integrity, and availability throughout the data lifecycle.

• Set clear expectations, establish goals, and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations to team members.

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance and efficiency of the data systems.

• Evaluate and adopt new tools and technologies to improve the data engineering capabilities and processes.

• Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders on data engineering projects and initiatives.

• Collaborate with product managers to define project requirements, prioritize tasks, and manage resource allocation.

• Provide technical guidance and support to team members, promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning.

• Ensure the successful delivery of projects by managing timelines, dependencies, and risks.

• Monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies to overcome challenges.

• Drive a culture of operational excellence, ensuring efficient workflows, effective communication, and timely project delivery.


Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field.

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles.

• 2+ years of experience in managing or leading data engineering teams.

• Proficient in SQL and two or more programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java, Golang etc.

• Experience in building and managing data pipelines and platforms using big data technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Hive, Clickhouse, Presto etc.

• Experience in working with cloud-based data services such as OKD, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.

• Experience in designing and implementing data warehouse models and architectures such as star schema, snowflake schema, etc.

• Experience in working with various data sources and formats such as relational databases, NoSQL databases, APIs, JSON, XML, etc.

• Experience in applying data quality frameworks and tools such as Data Quality Services (DQS), Data Quality Management (DQM), etc.

• Experience in working with data visualization tools such as Powerbi, Superset, Metabase, etc.

• Experience using data ETLs including Airflow or Nifi.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skill.
