 About the Role

We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to improve and expand automated testing across our web application and backend services. The main focus of this role is designing and maintaining automated tests for critical user journeys, RESTful APIs, and service integrations. You will work closely with engineers and product managers to identify risks early and improve confidence in each release. Manual and exploratory testing will remain part of the role when needed, but test automation will be the primary responsibility. You will also be expected to use AI and LLM-based tools effectively to improve test design, automation coverage, and investigation workflows without compromising accuracy or data security.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the test automation approach for web applications and backend services.
• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end, API, integration, and regression test suites.
• Automate critical user journeys across supported browsers and mobile web environments.
• Automate RESTful API testing based on OpenAPI specifications.
• Validate API contracts, request and response structures, authentication, error handling, and service interactions.
• Build reusable test utilities, fixtures, test data, and environment setup.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and help define release quality gates.
• Investigate unstable tests and improve their reliability and execution time.
• Review requirements and acceptance criteria to identify gaps and testing risks.
• Work with engineers to improve testability and prevent defects earlier in development.
• Perform targeted manual and exploratory testing for new or high-risk functionality.
• Investigate failures using logs, browser traces, network activity, and database queries.
• Use AI and LLM-based tools to support test-case design, coverage analysis, automation implementation, test-data generation, and failure investigation.
• Review AI-generated test scenarios and automation code to ensure they are relevant, deterministic, maintainable, and technically correct.
• Document defects clearly and follow them through resolution.
• Report automation coverage, test results, release risks, and recurring quality issues.
• Share testing practices and support quality ownership across the engineering team.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in software testing or quality engineering. 
• Strong hands-on experience designing and maintaining test automation frameworks. 
• Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript. 
• Strong experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or a similar browser automation framework. 
• Experience automating RESTful APIs and working with OpenAPI specifications. 
• Good understanding of API contracts, authentication, error scenarios, and data validation. 
• Solid understanding of test design, testing levels, risk-based testing, and the software development lifecycle. 
• Experience running automated tests as part of CI/CD pipelines. 
• Working knowledge of SQL for preparing test data and validating results. 
• Experience testing responsive web applications across different browsers and device profiles. 
• Familiarity with Git and code review workflows. 
• Ability to investigate issues across frontend, API, and database layers. 
• Practical experience using AI-assisted or LLM-based tools for testing and automation work. 
• Ability to validate AI-generated test scenarios, code, and analysis rather than relying on them without review. 
• Awareness of privacy and security considerations when working with source code, test data, logs, and AI tools. 
• Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills. Nice to Have 
• Hands-on experience with Playwright for both browser and API testing. 
• Experience with contract or schema-based API testing. 
• Familiarity with React applications and modern frontend development. 
• Experience testing asynchronous processes and integrations with external systems. 
• Familiarity with performance, accessibility, or security testing. 
• Experience with containerized test environments. 
• Familiarity with application logs, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing. 
• Experience building reusable AI-assisted testing workflows or prompt libraries
