This role represents a unique opportunity to step into a leadership position at Routetitan, taking over from one of our co-founders who has been hands-on in leading the technical team. We are seeking an Engineering Manager who combines technical expertise with exceptional leadership skills to drive our engineering team forward.

Role Overview

As Engineering Manager , you will balance leadership and hands-on technical contributions. You'll manage and mentor a growing team of engineers while playing a critical role in backend development, DevOps, and scaling our systems. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys contributing to the codebase while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and support the engineering team, ensuring alignment with Routetitan's values of practicality and ingenuity.
Hands-On Development: Actively contribute to backend development, DevOps workflows, and cloud infrastructure improvements.
Technical Execution: Ensure the successful delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions by managing engineering processes and workflows.
Collaboration: Partner with product, design, and business teams to translate company goals into technical solutions that prioritize the human experience.
Process Optimization: Continuously refine development practices to improve efficiency and team productivity.
Innovation: Identify opportunities to build on our technical foundations, integrating cutting-edge technologies that enhance the last-mile delivery experience.
Culture Building: Recruit, grow, and inspire an engineering team that thrives on creating practical, human-first solutions.
Growth & Recruitment: Support team growth by hiring, onboarding, and developing talented engineers.

Qualifications

8+ years of engineering experience, including backend development and DevOps.
Strong hands-on experience with Java and cloud platforms (eg, AWS, GCP, Azure), and containerization (eg, Docker).
Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (eg, Terraform), and scalable system architecture.
Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.
A track record of successfully delivering complex technical projects in dynamic environments.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a practical, problem-solving mindset.
