Toman is a leading fintech group in Iran, operating across diverse business units in payments and financial services. C-Side, one of our core business units, is dedicated to building products that facilitate trust-less transactions. Our live products include an escrow service for buyer-seller protection and a robust infrastructure for merchant transactions, wallets, and settlements. At C-Side, correctness is not just a feature—it is our product.

Our team operates at high velocity, shipping across the full stack (Django/DRF, React, K8s, GitLab CI). We leverage AI-assisted development daily and maintain a high quality bar. This role is for a technical leader who stays hands-on, sets our technical direction, and owns delivery across our product lines.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership: Define architecture, technical standards, and make critical, irreversible architectural decisions.
Hands-on Development: Write and review production code, focusing on high-risk work throughout the week.
Delivery & Ownership: Manage sequencing across two product lines, assess release risks, and own the mitigation plans for production issues.
Team Mentorship: Grow engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and actionable feedback.
Technical Advocacy: Act as the bridge between product, operations, and finance; surface trade-offs early to facilitate informed decision-making.
AI-Driven Development: Oversee the team’s use of AI coding tools, ensuring human-led quality assurance and safe development standards.
System Reliability: Resolve production incidents with durable, long-term fixes rather than temporary patches.
Compliance: Maintain accurate regulatory evidence packages as system architectures evolve.
Talent Acquisition: Lead the hiring and onboarding process as the team scales.

Requirements

Experience: 3+ years in a Tech Lead or team leadership role with full delivery accountability.
Technical Proficiency: Strong backend engineering skills (Python/Django preferred), deep experience with relational databases, migrations, queues, and deployment pipelines.
Financial Domain Expertise: Practical judgment regarding financial systems (payments, banking, ledgers, settlements). You understand the cost of “just retry it.”
Communication: Exceptional written communication skills; ability to keep stakeholders (PMs, Ops, Engineers) informed and aligned.
Risk Management: Ability to anticipate failure modes in releases and design effective rollback/monitoring strategies.
AI Tooling: A mature approach to AI-assisted coding—knowing when to delegate to AI and where to maintain rigorous human oversight.
Leadership Style: A preference for coaching autonomous engineers over supervising tasks.

Bonus Points:

Deep knowledge of the Iranian payments ecosystem (PSP integrations, IPG flows, Paya, identity verification, market-place integrations).
Experience with regulatory documentation and audit evidence packages.
Proficiency in Kubernetes, Helm, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Proven track record of growing a small team while maintaining high velocity.
