We are looking for a senior Java developer.

Necessary technical requirements:

● We are looking for a software engineer with commercial Java experience who is comfortable with stepping into a pair programming environment. This will include having worked on large scale enterprise systems.

● All of our engineers have very broad skill sets and work across the full tech stack, so it is expected that you have some experience with HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and are comfortable working on or learning about the front-end.

● With our existing products and the data migration we are about to undergo, it is also essential that you understand relational modelling and relational databases. Experience with writing SQL and not just ORMs.

● We use Spring extensively throughout our platforms so it’s essential to have previous experience here. You will be able to demonstrate your understanding of the key principles that underpin Spring, around classes and transactional control.

● We take testing very seriously; nothing gets deployed live without a high-level test coverage and where possible we follow TDD and BDD. As such, we require a developer that is passionate about testing understanding the benefits of a rigorous testing process having previous experience using Junit is essential.

● We also have a large amount of internal and external SOAP and RESTful APIs that are used across the entirety of our product range. While you don’t need to be an API expert per se, you will have worked on either building or consuming SOAP/RESTful APIs and understand the key principles around testing APIs.

● As we work collaboratively, you’ll be happy stepping into a paired programming environment.

you will need to demonstrate a clear and strong fundamental understanding of:

● Database Design and Modelling

● ANSI Structured Query Language (SQL)

● Object Oriented Principles and Design Patterns

● Spring Framework

● Web Technologies

Additionally, skills and experience in the following areas would be welcomed:

● API Design and Implementation

● IaC tools (Cloudformation or Terraform)

● Containerised environments (especially AWS ECS)

● Configuration tools (puppet, ansible, salt)

● Postgresql, Oracle or other DBMS

● Python knowledge

● CI/CD

● Load balancers and web application firewalls.

Finally, it is essential that your communication skills are precise. Our platform is extremely complex, and you will need to clearly articulate complicated concepts to a range of both technical and non-technical stakeholders as well as customers.

Payment: 1200 - 1400 $ per month
