Responsibilities and Duties:
Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and virtualizationInstall and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processesTroubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure Perform regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover proceduresLead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions Responsible for capacity, storage planning, and database performance.
Job Specifications:
Education: BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field and/ or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Skills: Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar roleWorking knowledge of Microsoft Server and Services Working knowledge of VMWare virtualizationIT certifications in Microsoft and VMWare are a plusStrong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols Experience with scripting and automation toolsExpert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices.
Behavioral qualities: Flexibility, accountability and self-disciplineFundamental analytical and conceptual thinking skillsExcellent planning, organizational, and time management skillsThinking creatively/outside of the box to solve business problemsAvailability outside of working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly.
