At JAST Health Tech, we are looking to expand our technical team with an experienced Backend Developer proficient in Python and FastAPI. Our main focus for this role is to bring on board someone who has practical, hands-on experience in production environments—going beyond theoretical knowledge—to effectively manage scalability and performance challenges in our projects.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI.
Collaborate with team members to design, implement, and test new features.
Write clean, readable, and maintainable code following established coding standards.
Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback from senior developers.
Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues.
Work with databases to store, retrieve, and manage application data.
Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.
Learn and apply software engineering best practices and design principles.

Required Qualifications

Python Fundamentals:

Good understanding of Python programming language and its core concepts.
Familiarity with Python data structures, including lists, tuples, dictionaries, and sets.
Understanding of functions, modules, packages, exceptions, and file handling.
Understanding of Python's type hints and basic static typing concepts.

Software Development Fundamentals:

Strong understanding of programming fundamentals and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with common algorithms and data structures.
Understanding of software design principles and clean coding practices.
Ability to write readable, maintainable, and well-structured code.
Basic understanding of software architecture concepts and design patterns.

Backend Development:

Familiarity with FastAPI and building RESTful APIs.
Understanding of HTTP, REST principles, request/response lifecycle, and status codes.
Basic knowledge of asynchronous programming concepts (async/await).
Experience working with JSON and API integrations.
Familiarity with API documentation tools such as OpenAPI/Swagger.

Databases:

Basic knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
Understanding of SQL fundamentals, including joins, filtering, aggregation, and indexing concepts.
Familiarity with ORM libraries such as SQLAlchemy.

Development Tools:

Familiarity with Git and common version control workflows.
Familiarity with virtual environments and Python package management.
