Health and safety specialists are responsible for ensuring that the workplace is safe, healthy, and compliant with all relevant regulations. They commonly work in industrial settings where there are many hazards to contend with—from heavy equipment to chemicals to physical labor.
Health and safety specialists may also be called upon to provide training or education on health and safety topics to employees. This might include how to properly use equipment, what to do in an emergency situation, etc
Investigating/recording incidents, accidents, complaints, and cases of ill health.
Ensuring that equipment is installed correctly/safely.
Identifying potential hazards and harmful factors, undertaking risk assessments, determining ways of reducing risks, drawing up safe operational practices, and making necessary changes.
Providing health and safety meetings and training courses for employees.
Liaising with relevant authorities.
Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation
Investigate health-related complaints and inspect facilities to ensure that they comply with public health legislation and regulations.
Inspect specified areas to ensure the presence of fire prevention equipment, safety equipment, or first-aid supplies.
Regularly visit the various sections of the company and record their visit and reflection reports to the company's management and the Committee for Technical and Occupational Health Protection to find out about occupational health status and make the final decision to resolve existing problems and follow up.
Anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices through work site knowledge, employee interactions and worksite inspection.
Implement, administer and advise others on hazard controls and hazard control programs.
Inspecting or evaluating workplace environment, equipment, or practices to ensure compliance with safety standards and internal regulations Control and monitor the HSE activities of contractors preparing required reports.
Planning and performing ERP (Emergency Response Plan) for activities.
Monitor and report non-compliance with company policy and legal requirements in the HSE field.
Ensure that all legal requirements concerning HSE are fully implemented.
Timely submission of occupational health and occupational disease statistics to the covered city health center.
Good communication skill.
Teamwork ability.
Ability to present and train the employee.
