We are developing an AI-powered real-time translation system for telemedicine, enabling seamless multilingual communication between doctors and patients. This solution integrates speech-to-text (STT), natural language processing (NLP), and text-to-speech (TTS) technologies.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to design and optimize a scalable, real-time backend infrastructure for this AI-driven platform. The ideal candidate should have deep experience in backend development, cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud), real-time processing, and AI integration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a scalable, high-performance backend for real-time AI-powered translation.
  • Develop secure RESTful and WebSocket APIs to handle real-time speech and text processing.
  • Optimize speech-to-text (STT), NLP, and text-to-speech (TTS) processing pipelines.
  • Implement real-time communication using WebRTC, WebSockets, and gRPC.
  • Integrate and optimize AI models (Whisper, Deepgram, Google Speech API).
  • Deploy and manage backend infrastructure on Google Cloud (GCP) using Cloud Run, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), and BigQuery.
  • Work with SQL/NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB) to handle structured and unstructured data.
  • Ensure high security, HIPAA/GDPR compliance, and data encryption.
  • Create comprehensive documentation for backend architecture and API specifications.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development with expertise in Python (FastAPI, Flask) or Node.js (Express.js, Fastify).
  • Experience building real-time, high-availability backend systems.
  • Deep understanding of real-time communication protocols (WebSockets, gRPC, WebRTC, Twilio API).
  • Strong experience in AI/NLP integrations, particularly in speech processing (STT & TTS).
  • Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
  • Expertise in Google Cloud (GCP), specifically Cloud Run, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Firestore, and BigQuery.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
  • Strong understanding of API security (JWT, OAuth2, encryption techniques).
  • Proven ability to document backend architectures, API designs, and data processing workflows.

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with GraphQL for API development.
  • Knowledge of AI model optimization (Vertex AI, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers).
  • Background in telemedicine, healthcare applications, or fintech platforms.
  • Strong analytical mindset for performance optimization and troubleshooting.
