Backend Engineer (Python/Django)

About the Role

Lotus Future Studies, the company behind Mazraeh, is looking for a talented Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team.

Mazraeh is an AgriTech and AgriFinTech platform that leverages agricultural data, geospatial analytics, remote sensing, and financial technologies to build innovative solutions for farmers and agricultural businesses.

We are seeking an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, building scalable systems, and contributing to products that create real-world impact.

This role offers the opportunity to work on modern cloud-based applications, data-driven services, agricultural intelligence systems, and digital financial solutions.

Knowledge-Based Military Service Program (Amrieh) is available for eligible candidates.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs
Build and enhance microservices and data processing workflows
Collaborate closely with Product, Frontend, Data, and DevOps teams
Design and optimize databases and application architecture
Develop and maintain asynchronous processing services
Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions
Improve software quality, performance, security, and reliability
Contribute to deployment automation and development workflows
Prepare and maintain technical documentation

Required Technical Skills

Strong proficiency in Python
Strong experience with Django Framework
Strong experience with Django REST Framework (DRF)
Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
Good understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture and Design Patterns
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
Strong knowledge of Git and version control workflows
Experience with PostgreSQL and database optimization
Experience working with Redis
Experience with Celery and asynchronous task processing
Experience with Message Brokers such as RabbitMQ
Familiarity with Docker and containerized environments
Familiarity with Linux server environments
Familiarity with Nginx and reverse proxy concepts
Understanding of DevOps practices and infrastructure concepts
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
Understanding of software security best practices
Familiarity with testing concepts including Unit Testing and Integration Testing

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to understand and analyze complex software systems
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Self-motivated and eager to learn new technologies
Attention to detail and commitment to software quality
Ownership mindset and accountability

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in backend software development
Experience working in agile development environments
GitHub profile, portfolio, or demonstrable project experience is a plus

Nice to Have

Experience with cloud platforms and scalable infrastructure
Familiarity with GIS, geospatial systems, or remote sensing applications
Experience working with data-intensive platforms
Knowledge of agricultural technologies (AgriTech) or financial technologies (FinTech)
Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies
