Alibaba is looking for a Front-End Chapter Lead to help us improve and expand our rapidly growing products.

About the role

As a Front-end Chapter Lead at Alibaba , you will work closely with other members of the product team to create visually appealing and user-friendly interfaces, and collaborate with back-end developers to ensure that the web applications function smoothly. Along with being an expert in your field, you will also be a leader and a mentor for the team, ultimately responsible for performance and product success, but also for putting the team together, coaching them, and making every member of the team better. This is a role that will allow you to use your technical skills and creativity to make a real impact on the success of our company’s online presence.

In this role, you will

-          Work on front-end projects using modern tools and patterns (such as TypeScript, Vue.js, Nuxt.js, TailwindCSS, Vitest, etc.)

-          Continuously collaborate with back-end developers and UX/UI designers, product owners, and CTO to improve the usability of our applications

-          Coordinate front-end software development activities across multiple product teams by aligning the architecture and technical standards

-          Promote high-impact tech initiatives and work on improving our web applications based on business needs

-          Define best-in-class front-end engineering standards and practices by staying on top of emerging technologies

What we're looking for

-          Broad hands-on experience in front-end software development using TypeScript, Vue.js, and Nuxt.js

-          Prior experience in coaching or leading a team of software developers or a chapter

-          In-depth understanding of the entire web development process (from design to development and deployment)

-          Familiarity with docker and CI/CD and how to write a dockerfile and gitlab-ci.yml file

-          Experience with server-side context and how to create a new one from scratch

-          Experience working with micro frontends (e.g. Module federation) would be great

-          Knowledge of SEO principles and web performance metrics (e.g. WebVitals)

-          Experience with browser testing and debugging

Requirements

-          6+ years of experience in front-end/JavaScript development

-          Demonstrated progressive experience in a leadership role with current technical experience

-          In-depth technical experience in at least one of the core languages, frameworks, or technologies used by the team

-          Experience with HTML5 and the semantic web

-          Extensive experience with CSS, CSS preprocessors, responsive design, and a mobile-first mindset

-          Deep knowledge of JavaScript (ES6/ES7)

-          4+ years of experience with modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries (e.g. Vue.js, React.js, Angular.js, … )

-          Experience with SSR (Server Side Rendering) and SEO

-          Experience with front-end automation tools and task runners (e.g. vite, rollup, webpack, … )

-          Familiarity with functional programming concepts is a plus

-          Experience in deploying unit and E2E tests

-          Basic knowledge of the TDD approach when writing code.

-          Basic understanding of how Progressive Web Apps (PWA) work

-          Experience in producing maintainable code in large code bases

-          Ability to work in an Agile (Scrum / Kanban) environment

-          Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git)

-          Experience with task management systems, namely JIRA and Trello
