Senior Android Engineer


About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to play a central role in shaping the technical direction of one of the largest social platforms in our region.

Our mobile application seamlessly integrates real-time messaging, rich social feeds, media processing, and high-quality voice/video technologies into a single cohesive experience serving millions of active users.

This is not a feature factory. You will join an engineering culture that values architectural autonomy, technical rigor, and cross-functional ownership. You will directly influence how our mobile architecture evolves and help raise the bar for mobile development across the company.

What You Will Work On

You will address complex technical challenges at scale, including:

  • High-Throughput Mobile Architecture: Building responsive, modular, and offline-first client architectures to support large-scale social feeds and real-time interaction.
  • Real-Time Communication: Scaling real-time messaging systems along with low-latency, high-quality voice and video calling infrastructure.
  • Performance & Reliability: Optimizing application execution, memory footprint, cold startup times, and media delivery across a diverse array of Android devices and network conditions.
  • Modernization & Craftsmanship: Leading the transition to modern Android paradigms, enhancing developer experience (DX), and maintaining high standards for code quality and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect & Build: Design and implement scalable, resilient Android features that serve millions of users.
  • Technical Ownership: Drive core architectural decisions, evaluate emerging technologies, and establish engineering best practices across the Android stack.
  • Code Excellence: Maintain clean, testable, and highly maintainable Kotlin codebases while conducting thorough code reviews.
  • Mentorship & Culture: Guide and mentor engineers, foster technical growth within the team, and contribute to a collaborative, continuous-learning engineering culture.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Backend, iOS, Product, and Design teams to take ambitious features from initial design to production deployment.

What We Are Looking For

  • Deep Platform Expertise: Strong track record of building and maintaining production Android applications in Kotlin.
  • Architectural Mastery: Solid grasp of modern Android design patterns (MVVM/MVI, Clean Architecture), dependency injection, and scalable modularization strategies.
  • Asynchronous Programming & Data Pipelines: Proficiency with Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, reactive state management, and offline-first local persistence.
  • UI Paradigms: Hands-on experience with modern Jetpack Compose layouts, along with the ability to maintain and migrate legacy XML systems gracefully.
  • Systems & Networking: Solid experience with RESTful APIs, WebSockets, real-time protocols, and asynchronous networking.
  • Engineering Rigor: Commitment to unit/integration testing, automated CI/CD practices, and systematic performance profiling.
